Description
If you’re eager to delve into the world of Six Sigma or want to refresh your knowledge of its fundamental components, then this specialization is tailored for you. Six Sigma skills are highly sought after by employers globally, as they have been proven to enhance business processes, performance, and quality assurance.
Throughout this specialization, you will gain comprehensive insights into the principles and tools that make Six Sigma and Lean methodologies successful.
The specialization is designed as a sequential, linear learning journey, focusing on the introductory level content (known as the “yellow belt” level) of Six Sigma and Lean. Mastering Yellow Belt knowledge is essential before progressing to the Green Belt (offered as a second specialization here on Coursera by the USG), and Green Belt knowledge is a stepping stone to becoming a Black Belt.
The recommended sequence of courses in this specialization is as follows:
Course #1 – Six Sigma Fundamentals Course #2 – Six Sigma Tools for Define and Measure Course #3 – Six Sigma Tools for Analyze Course #4 – Six Sigma Tools for Improve and Control
Upon completing Course #4 (Six Sigma Tools for Improve and Control), you will undertake a peer-reviewed capstone project. Successfully completing this project is a requirement for full specialization completion.
While earning the Yellow Belt or Green Belt Specializations doesn’t grant you “professional accreditation” in Six Sigma, it significantly boosts your preparedness for such accreditation testing.
Applied Learning Project
By the end of this specialization, you will have created various essential project elements using Six Sigma principles and tools. These elements include a project charter, project team charter, data collection plan, process map, null and alternative hypotheses, problem statement, business case, goal statement, process and scope description, and a timeline. The practical application of these skills will solidify your understanding of Six Sigma concepts and their real-world applicability.
